  MinnStar History

MinnStar Bank National Association was chartered as a national bank in 1934 as The Lake Crystal National Bank. The company was formed by a group of local businessmen who sought to reorganize the First National Bank which closed its doors in 1933. The Lake Crystal National Bank built its present Lake Crystal office in 1974. The branches in Good Thunder and Mankato were acquired in 1990 when the Lake Crystal National Bank purchased The First State Bank of
Good Thunder. In October 1992, the company name was changed to MinnStar Bank National Association in order to bring a unified identity of the bank to all three communities.

MinnStar Bank is owned by Lake Crystal Bancorporation, Inc. a bank holding company and governed by a six member board of directors. The company remains in local ownership and continues to grow and look for acquisition opportunities.

  MinnStar Community Reinvestment

For more than 75 years, we at MinnStar Bank have believed that we have a
responsibility to be active participants in the communities where we do
business. That means more than giving money to charity. It means providing
good jobs for people, paying taxes, buying goods and services from local
suppliers and creating a culture within the bank that encourages employees
to get involved. Our employees actively participate in their respective
communities in both their business and personal lives.

March of Dimes
We are also a proud sponsor each year of the March of Dimes March for Babies and Chefs Auction. This past fall, the auction raised over $125,000 to promote healthy babies. Last year 70% of our employees and their families actively participated in the walk by raising pledges and walking or helped behind the scenes.

Lake Crystal Welcome Memorial Knights
MinnStar Bank employee volunteers participated in an evening of fund raising that raised over $45,000 for our children's LCWM School District.

Lake Crystal Area
We are a proud sponsor of the LCARC (Lake Crystal Area Recreational Center). We also participate in parades around the area including Good Thunder, Lake Crystal, Mankato and Mapleton.

  MinnStar Coins

Coin collecting is a timeless, and often lucrative, hobby that spans continents, gender and generations. Some collectors begin with a newly minted quarter. Others with a 2,000 year-old medallion. Either way, it usually sparks a lifetime interest.

At MinnStar, we have an assortment of coins to purchase at all three locations. They are perfect for the avid collector, a new baby or for someone who just has everything.

Currently offering:
*SILVER EAGLE* ONE TROY OUNCE - .999 FINE SILVER
The American Silver Eagle is the largest and heaviest coin ever minted by the U.S. Government. It has been minted annually since 1986. The Silver Eagle is a dollar that is worth many times its value in silver content alone.

PROOF AND UNCIRCULATED SETS NEW QUARTERS
You can purchase them in five quarter sets for the year they were distributed or state sets that contain two quarters—one minted at each of the two mints in the U.S. The sets come in a holder that has interesting and historical information about each state.
